10 steps to a healthy heart:
- Reduce excess body fat
- Cut back on saturated fats, like those found in butter
- Make sure the fats you do eat are unsaturated
- Add plant sterol enriched foods to your diet, such as Logicol® spread and yoghurt
- Cut back on cholesterol from food e.g. offal and butter
- Boost your omega 3s: eat fish and nuts
- Sweep cholesterol away with soluble fibre e.g. rolled oats
- Eat more folate: lots of fruit and vegetables
- Up the antioxidants: fruits especially citrus and berries, vegetables, red wine and tea
- Add heart protectors: wholegrain foods, soy, nuts
